Bali Advertiser - Advertising for The Expatriate Community

March 21, 2012

Being a mother on Bali, and having a girl under a year been born on Bali - my second round of motherhood, with the first round being a boy now 13, it is vastly noticeable to me how Bali has exploded with children oriented choices within the past fifteen years. It has in three words become a ‘kid friendly place’ - and thank goodness for that! All About Kids will explore all avenues offered to the younger members of our lives, from babies to teenagers and in between. In the coming months this column will showcase the best that Bali has from activities to retail selections, from the arts to sensible medical tips. All About Kids, is in a nutshell, all about them!

The coming weeks see a ground-breaking kid centred charitable tournament and therefore well worth a mention in this column. This event is the perfect way to teach kids the importance of helping others, in a fun and memorable way. On the other side, the indulgent chocolaty Easter is upon us offering Kids’ Egg Hunts and other Easter Fun. KU DE TA always holds an Easter extravaganza, extremely well-organised, as detailed below, for a suggestion of just one of many places welcoming our younger family members on that day – and allowing adults to sit back and relax.

BALI JUNIOR GOLF COMMUNITY SEVE BALLESTEROS FOUNDATION CHALLENGE
2 day Tournament
7-8 April 2012

Bali Handara Kosaido County Club

Day 1 Team Event - Day 2 Individual Stoke Play

Bali Junior Golf Community together with Bali Handara Kosaido Country Club is joining an initiative in Spain to raise funds for The Seve Ballesteros Foundation in support of Cancer Research. The weekend of April 7th & 8th will welcome a 2-day Challenge charity tournament supporting The Seve Ballesteros Foundation. The event in Bali is part of an initiative in Spain which will see thousands of golfers at golf clubs raise money for Seve’s Foundation, which funds research into brain cancer.

Golfers at Bali Handara Kosaido Country Club will tee off in their bid not only to raise money for charity, but also to try to promote junior golf on Bali as well as introduce a mentor program for juniors, when a team event on Day 1 will have 2 adults paired with 2 juniors.

A strong field of adult and junior golfers is expected on the day, at the popular local course, which always throws itself wholeheartedly behind the juniors and golf. Bali Handara Kosaido County Club General Manager Mark Isley said: “We are very honored to hold this event and support Bali Junior Golf Community as well as the Seve Ballesteros Foundation, which helps fund Cancer Research UK’s world class research into brain cancer. Our members are an exceptional group of people and tremendously generous, so we look forward to a great day”.

Seve Ballesteros is a former World No.1 and winner of over 80 tournaments including five major championships. Seve Ballesteros was, for a decade, arguably the greatest golfer in the world. Seve will always be remembered for the strength and determination he showed not only on the golf course but also in the last years of his life, as he bravely fought brain cancer.

What is The Seve Ballesteros Foundation?
In October of 2008, Seve Ballesteros collapsed at Madrid Airport. He was later diagnosed with a brain tumour and underwent life saving brain surgery at La Paz hospital in Madrid. “This is the toughest match of my life,” he said.
The courage and determination he had shown for 30 years on the golf course now helped him in his greatest challenge. “You must always fight, never give up.” Spirit, together with the skill and expertise of the surgeons at La Paz Hospital in Madrid gave him what he called “My second chance”. After four operations Seve left hospital on 9 December 2008.
Seve Ballesteros believed he can make a difference in the fight against brain cancer. Seve decided to support Cancer Research UK “I want to help; I want to do something to fight this disease”. Unfortunately Seve lost his fight on May 7th 2011. Cancer Research UK is the world’s largest charity dedicated to cancer research. Their doctors and scientists have contributed to 19 of the top 20 drugs used to treat cancer patients worldwide.

The Seve Ballesteros Foundation Challenge 2011
was held on April 9, 2011 on over 140 golf-courses in Spain and 12,000 players participated in the “First Edition Seve Ballesteros Foundation Challenge.”
The world of golf has more than responded to a project conceived and led by Seve Ballesteros for the sole purpose of raising funds to promote research on brain tumors.

EASTER SUNDAY AT KU

KU DE TA is back to putting on its Family Dayze each Sunday, in particular on the 8th of April, when Easter Sunday falls. Sundays are always fun days at KU DE TA, but Family Dayze Easter Sunday (is the best Sunday of the year) with an over-abundance of games, entertainment, food and festivities presented in a carnival-esque atmosphere - not to forget a special guest appearance from the Easter Bunny himself. As Master of Ceremonies, chocolate-bearer and organiser of the Official Egg Hunt, the Easter Bunny (aka. Peter Cottontail) has uncovered many new hidey-holes across KU DE TA to make this year’s friendly Egg Hunt competition even more exciting.

As KU DE TA Easter tradition would have it, marquee tents will be on either side of the pool, where a flurry of activities unfold – everything from the creation of Easter eggs to devouring fairy floss, face painting to glitter tattoos. Roving street performers add to the Neverland pageantry with their balloon twisting antics and miraculous illusionary skills ensuring the day is nothing short of wondrous.

Everyone will be waiting for KU DE TA’s annual Easter Colouring Competition, where two age groups (2-6 years & 7-12 years) colour to their hearts’ content for the chance to win an ‘Easter Cuddles Family Pack’ value at approximately 3 million rupiah (incorporating a 1.5 million rupiah dinner voucher). Included in each hamper will be a smiling bunny and soft toy centrepiece, as well as every possible piece of Easter candy you can imagine, colouring & activity books, puzzles, games, kids’ decorations and more.

While the children play, they also get to munch on a delicious menu of healthful but fun foods, while the adults will be partaking of a KU DE TA - style Easter feast and an extensive drinks menu.

Booking recommended.
