Let’s face it, who really wants to grow old, with excess body fat on their abdomen, hips, thighs, neck, arms, or anywhere else on their body? Like most people you are probably conscious of the way you look and rightly so, as a body with excess body fat is not exactly the most pleasant sight on a beach! Nor is it the best way to stay young and healthy. Excess body fat has been directly linked to all of the major degenerative diseases such as, heart disease, diabetes, cancer etc. So it is in your best interests to battle the bulge as best you can! In this article I’m going to explain how you can burn away your excess fat and have the healthy fit body that is a symbol of youthfulness and vitality.
How Fat Are You?
Do you actually know how much fat you are carrying on your body? No I don’t mean what your weight is; I am referring to your actual body fat percentage. Too many people just jump on the scales and measure their weight, but this is not that much of a guide as to how much fat you are actually carrying around. The best way to do this is to measure your body fat percentage using good quality skin calipers. By taking skin fold measurements at specific points on your body, your body fat can be accurately determined in a few minutes. The ideal level for a normal healthy man is about 15% and for a woman 20%. An athlete will have levels in the 10-12% range (men), and competitive bodybuilders will go as low as 5-8%. However, you don’t need to get to these extremes to look great. When your body fat levels start getting above 25% for men, and 30% for women, you can be considered to be clinically obese. This dramatically increases your risk of heart disease, so it is important to act immediately to drop this level.
The Health Problem that is the Cause of Excess Fat in 90% of All People
If you are one of the many people who are carrying around a large amount of excess body fat then chances are high that you have a slow metabolism. And the most likely cause of a slow metabolism is an underactive thyroid gland, or hypothyroidism. This problem is exceedingly common in our society and is behind many health problems, of which weight gain with excess body fat is one (also fatigue, loss of hair, dry scaly skin).
The problem with hypothyroidism is that is it usually not diagnosed by your doctor. Why is that when he does a routine blood test to measure your thyroid hormones? Well you see that in order for your thyroid to make large amounts of healthy thyroid hormones it requires the mineral iodine, which is now largely deficient in our soils, and therefore in the foods that we eat. This creates a poorly functioning thyroid gland which cannot produce adequate thyroid hormones.
The other huge problem for your poor old thyroid gland is the widespread use of fluoride and chlorine and bromine are being used in our water and food. Why is this a problem you may be asking? You see these three elements are very closely related and share very similar properties, and they can attach to the same receptors in your cells.
So since your body has either no or very little iodine, these other three chemicals attach themselves to your thyroid hormones instead! This results in thyroid hormones that do not function correctly in your body and are essentially inactive. Unfortunately the conventional blood tests that your doctor orders cannot tell the difference between a thyroid hormone with iodine which is normal and one with chorine, fluoride or bromine, which is inactive.
The best way to test for hypothyroidism is to measure your resting body temperature every morning for several days. As soon as you wake up have a thermometer ready and place it under your tongue until it is ready. Take the reading and record it. Do this for say 3-4 mornings in a row then take the average. A normal reading is 36.8 degrees Celsius. If the reading is 36 degrees or below then you have hypothyroidism even though your blood tests may have been normal.

Mercury poisoning is actually another common factor that will lead to hypothyroidism as mercury accumulates heavily in the thyroid gland and deactivates the enzymes there responsible for producing thyroid hormones. Mercury toxicity is common as high levels of mercury are found in amalgam fillings, vaccines, preservatives, and in our food.
Once you have removed the above toxins (and all others) from you system by performing a whole body detox, now it’s time to give your thyroid the iodine it needs in order to make large amounts of thyroid hormones which will kick start your slow metabolism and which will in turn literally burn fat while you sleep.
