Cellular Nutrition and Anti Aging
You Are What You Eat
I am sure you have heard this statement before countless times but it serves repeating here as it is absolutely vital that you feed your body the correct nutrients in order for it to be able to build healthy cells. Your cells are the building blocks of all your organs and of your body as a whole: you could say that you are basically a collection of billions of tiny cells and that if you fail to give each and every cell exactly what it needs for optimum function on a daily basis, then poor health, illness, disease and rapid aging will most surely find their way into your life.
How soon? Well that depends on other factors including your genetics and predisposition to illness and aging, and also the level of toxicity in your body and cells, which is also an independent factor for aging and disease. Even if you exercise daily, take numerous supplements, and eat what you think is a healthy diet, if your cells are not fed the correct nutrition that they require (this may well be very different to what you think is a healthy diet), then they will start to malfunction.
Malfunctioning cells are the reason you are not feeling well or you have developed a disease or are just aging too fast. Your cells can malfunction for numerous reasons, for example due to low hormone levels, or from oxidative damage, however a major cause of cellular malfunction is failing to supply your cells with the right balance of nutrients they require. If your cells are malnourished, I can say with certainty that it is a matter of when not if, you will develop a degenerative disease.
What Nutrients Do Your Cells Need?
The human body is extremely complex and yet it operates like an extremely efficient “machine”. Innate intelligence allows this sophisticated “machine” to operate smoothly and to carry out millions and millions of operations each and every second with extraordinary precision. As long as your nervous system is free from interference, and your cells have the nutrients they require available to them, they can carry out all of these tasks with great efficiency. For example, your cells have the ability to allow your heart to beat regularly, your muscles to contract upon demand, your lungs to breathe and supply your blood with oxygen, your digestive system to digest and process food, your colon to expel waste products, your liver to cleanse your blood, and your hormones to be secreted as necessary, and so much more.
In order for your cells to be able to perform all these functions and to supply your body with much needed energy they require about 50 essential nutrients, which are:
• 2 essential fatty acids – omega 3 and 6 fatty acids
• 8 essential amino acids – animal proteins have all the essential amino acids, however vegetarian proteins are incomplete, and vegens must use good food combining in order to avoid becoming depleted in any of the
essential aminos.
• 13 vitamins – includes vitamins A, the B group vitamins, vitamins C, D and E
• 20 minerals
• A source of energy – carbohydrates or fats
• Water - pure clean distilled or reverse osmosis is best.
• Oxygen – the most important cellular nutrient – the higher the concentration of oxygen in your blood and body the healthier your cells and body will be.
• Light – the suns energy is essential for our health and well being, so make sure you spend time in the sun on a regular basis.
From all these 50 nutrients, healthy and vibrant bodies are built that will last years and years. A cellular nutrition program that is designed to build, defend and re-build health must include high concentrations of all of these essential nutrients. If one follows the above outline of cellular nutrition, he or she is certain to improve their health significantly.
In a healthy body there is no room for disease, as disease can only result if there is a cellular malfunction, which will result if some of the above essential cellular nutrients are missing. The more nutrients that are missing the faster that disease will appear.
Add to this the ever growing toxic assault to our bodies and cells and you can see why our society is becoming more and more diseased, and is aging at a rapid rate. We are assaulted with chemicals and toxins the moment we step outside our doors (toxic car and bike fumes, industrial waste gases, industrial wastes polluting our rivers and waterways, etc), in the water and foods we drink and eat, and in the air that we breathe.
What Else Do Your Cells Need
For Good Health?
Apart from the above 50 essential nutrients that your cells must have each and every day for optimal function, there are other accessory nutrients, although not essential because your body can make them, that I feel are of benefit for good cellular health.
• Co Enzyme Q10 (CoQ10)
• Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA)
• N-acetyl cysteine (NAC)
• Para amino benzoic acid (PABA)
• Carnitine
• Choline
• Non essential amino acids
• Anti oxidants
• Hormones and neurotransmitters derived from amino acids
• Essential fatty acid derivatives (EPA & DHA)
Other factors necessary for good overall health include fiber, friendly bacteria (probiotics - essential for normal bowel health and immune function), hydrochloric acid and digestive enzymes(both essential for good absorption of fats, proteins and carbohydrates- deficiency is common leading to major nutrient malabsorption).
You may think that your diet contains a plentiful supply of all the above necessary essential nutrients and accessory nutrients and other factors, however studies have shown that even in affluent countries like the USA or Australia, over 60% (and rising) of people are deficient in one or more essential nutrients.
Deficiencies of essential nutrients may be due to the following causes:
• Poor food choices
• Poor digestion
• Poor absorption
• Intestinal waste accumulation
• Imbalance in bowel bacteria
• Increased nutrient requirements – due to drug and toxin detoxification
• Increased requirements due to extreme athletic performance, life-style, genetics, or environmental conditions
Healthy cells are essential for a health you, so next time you think about what you are about to eat, pause and think for a moment if your cells really need what you are about to put into your mouth. Every mouthful of food will either add to or take away from the health of your cells, and it is the health of your cells that determines the health of your organs, your systems and your whole body.
