There is no doubt in my mind that the levels of your hormones are vitally important when it comes to Anti Aging & also for your long term good health.
In this article I will examine why you should check the levels of your hormones, and what the best way of doing this is.
For women as they enter mid-life and beyond the combination of fluctuating menstrual cycles and hormone levels can often leave you overwhelmed. Numerous symptoms start to appear that leave you wondering if you are about to lose your mind and body.
You begin to have self-doubt, and anxiety: a loss of self confidence and feelings of insecurity: your body starts to become soft and saggy with wrinkles and lines appearing on your face: your hair grays and starts falling: sex becomes un-interesting and routine.
Does this all sound familiar? As a women if you have experienced the above physical and emotional problems you are not alone: this is a common scenario. For men there is a similar condition known as Andropause, which also represents a major turning point: your memory starts going, your sex drive drops, your muscles become flabby and you start to pack on the fat.
So do you have to just accept these changes? Is this the beginning of the end for both men and women? Of course not! With the right knowledge and with the correct actions there is no reason why you can’t cruise through mid-life and remain strong, sexy, healthy, energetic and with a positive outlook on life well into your later years.
By monitoring your hormone levels and by using the latest, safe and effective therapies to boost your dwindling hormones, you can cruise through this period of your life without a glich.
Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy is now giving men and women a shot at youth again – without any of the side-effects that synthetic un-natural hormones have.
You can live longer, with more youthfulness and less illness: by replacing your own hormones using safe and effective natural hormone therapy.
Aging is in fact brought on by a number of hormone deficiencies which can now be accurately identified and corrected. This is Anti Aging at its best!
What Are Your Hormones Doing?
Estrogen, Progesterone, Cortisol, DHEA,
Testosterone, HGH...
Hormone imbalances in both men and women can be manifested in a wide variety of ways, which can differ wildly between any 2 people. Let’s look at a list of symptoms and signs of hormone imbalance or deficiency to see if you may be a candidate for hormone replacement therapy: Tick the appropriate box below.

If you checked “Yes” to 2 or more in the above list chances are you may have a hormone imbalance. For more clues as to exactly which hormones you could be lacking, a more in-depth questionnaire is available. You can contact me directly should you wish to find out more on this subject.
Further to this initial symptom checklist, the next step you need to take is to actually have your hormone levels accurately measured to determine exactly which ones are low and to what extent.
Hormone Testing
The best way to measure hormone levels is through your saliva. Blood and urine tests have been commonly used to test hormones in the past, however neither of these is as accurate at testing free, active hormone levels as saliva, which is very precise, easy to do from your home, and involves no needles. Also saliva testing is the only effective way to monitor topical hormone supplementation.
The biggest advantage of saliva testing is that it can measure free or biologically active hormone levels. Blood serum tests only measure total or bound hormone levels, whereas saliva picks up the small portion of hormone that is active or unbound.
It is the free or unbound active hormone that is functional and useful to your body and to your cells, not the bound or stored hormone, which is useless to your body. So why then would you want to measure the blood levels of this?
Traditional medicine has been so reliant on blood testing for everything that most people don’t question its effectiveness. However, there has been strong scientific evidence to support the notion that saliva testing is much more effective than blood testing for hormones since 1983.
Saliva testing only measures free hormone, and it is the free hormone which exerts its effects on your body. The salivary gland acts like a sieve and filters out the blood carrier proteins, letting us measure the free hormones directly.
Most hormones are bound to a carrier protein and are not accessible to the target organ (heart, brain etc). Knowing the level of the free unbound or active hormone is important for determining if treatment is necessary, and how much hormone is required.
If some of your hormones are low, then you should consider boosting them using the next generation in hormone replacement therapy.
Bio- Identical Hormone Therapy
Bio-identical hormones are safe and effective as they are the exact biochemical make up as your body’s own natural hormones. This is a far cry from the synthetic hormones that have been used for many years. For example the synthetic hormone PremPro that was commonly given to menopausal women in the 1980 -90’s, was found to increase the incidence of cancer, heart disease, stroke and blood clots in the lungs (2002 World Health Initiative study, and 1996-2001 Million Women Study in the UK).
This drug is a combination of Premarin (synthetic estrogen derived from pregnant horses) and Provera (synthetic progesterone called progestin) and it was approved by the FDA for treating hormone imbalances in women. When the news of the health issues broke concerning this drug in 2002 large numbers of women abandoned this drug.
In the following year(2003) breast cancer rates in the US declined an amazing 7% (Reported by MD Anderson Cancer Center at University of Texas). This is firm evidence that synthetic hormones are best avoided at all costs. Bio-identical hormones (derived from natural plants) on the other hand have been found in studies to be far safer than synthetics as your body recognizes them as its own hormones. They are a precise replica of the hormones produced in your pituitary, ovaries, adrenals, thyroid and testes.
Bio-identical hormones can lead to a dramatic improvement in your health and a reversal of many age related symptoms and signs.
