On-line Banking. Is It Safe?

Today I have neat little program to help you ‘stay connected’ thru your dial-up phone connection to the internet; information about   On-line banking; a very helpful web site; and my next Question and Answer.

Here’s a free program called “Connection Keeper” that will help you keep from losing your Internet connection when performing long updates or downloads or when creating a large email. This includes an automatic dial back in, button click simulator, and many color options.  You can download this utility at: http://www.webattack.com/get/conkeeper.shtml

On-line banking.  What is it and is it safe?
The short answer: YES it’s safe!  On the internet one of the safest things you can do is be connected to a ‘secure’ web site – one that shows a ‘locked’ padlock at the bottom of the browser.  (One of the LEAST safe things is email – never send your VISA number in an email).

On-Line banking allows you to do all your banking chores thru the internet.  This save you lots of time as you can transfer money or pay a bill at 3AM while you sit drinking a beer!  In general, On-Line banking allows you to do ALL of your banking over the internet: transfer funds between your accounts; pay bills; check balances; balance your check book; see if that check has cleared yet; and more.  Look at the links below for all the details.  You can also contact your local bank here in Indonesia or your bank in your home country toreceive information about what On-Line services they offer.  (Send them an email) You may decide to open an account in America, Europe, or Australia and then do On-Line Banking thru them.

Q:  How do I remove/delete things such as discarded programs, like out of date McAfee?  I want to get rid of some programs I don’t use and get back some of my disk space.  What’s the best and safest way to do it?  Nick
A:  If your computer is filled to the brim and you want to get rid of never or seldom used programs, then check this out. You can remove these unwanted disk fillers just like a pro.
To remove unwanted programs follow these steps:
1. Launch Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel (Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add Remove Programs)
2. Examine each item listed carefully & don’t mess with items that are completely unfamiliar to you
3. If you find a standalone application that you are sure you no longer use, get rid of it!
The Add/Remove Programs in Windows 2000 and XP reveals the size of the installation, as well as how recently and how often it was used. Make sure not to remove unfamiliar items as they may be system items.
