Hi and welcome back, today I’ve another tip for you;
a review of RIMO’s great new computer ‘mall’
in Denpasar called “Bali COMPUTER Center”; two
more interesting Web Sites and my next Question and Answer.
Today I’ve got an easy but time saving tip –
Have someone you email to frequently? Use Internet Explorer’s
Favorites list to make it easy to send the email:
- Open Internet Explorer, click the
Favorites menu and click the Add to Favorites command.
Then
- In the Add Favorite dialog box,
type the person’s name. For example, we’ll type
“BaliPCAdvisor” in the Name text box. Click OK.
Now
- Click the Favorites menu, right
mouse click on the BaliPCAdvisor entry and click Properties.
- In the BaliPCAdvisor Properties
dialog box, remove the information in the URL text box and
replace it with “mailto:BaliPCAdvisor@hotmail.com”
– no quotes. Click OK. Now
- Click on the Favorites menu again
and click on the link you created. It opens an email message
and automatically puts in the person’s email address
in the To: text box.
- Want to have the link on your desktop?
Click the Favorites menu, right mouse click on the link and
point to “Send to”. Click on “Desktop create
shortcut”. Now the email link appears on the desktop.
Just click on the shortcut when you want to send him or her
email.
And a review.
A new computer retail store in Denpasar!

Bali COMPUTER Center is the new multi-story mall across the
street from and just before Ramayana in Denpasar and is part
of RIMO. The 1st floor has name brand clothing, accessories,
and VCDs and all the prices seemed to be very good and somewhat
cheaper than Ramayana. The 2nd floor was finished but
the shop spaces were still being constructed it will soon
contain The Handphone Center. It’s the 3rd floor
that is the focus of our discussion today. This is the
closest I’ve seen in Bali to the multi-storied computer
malls in Singapore! At last! The Bali version
is only one floor but it has about 50 shops that sell computer
hardware, software, and accessories and supplies and all the
stores compete on price! I went there specifically to
find a print cartridge for my HP printer. It’s
a little hard to find the ones for my particular printer (of
course). Makro doesn’t carry it nor does Gramedia.
But, four different shops at Bali COMPUTER Center carried
the one I needed. Not only was that good news, but the
better news was that the prices all varied. The best
part may be the service here. When you get to the 3rd
floor there is a Help Desk person who will actually HELP.
The very friendly and knowledgeable manager, Rony Agustinus
will help you. Need to know which shops carry the item
you need? Rony knows and will take you over there.
You can even call him at the number listed above and he’ll
check to see who has it or email him tukapluk@yahoo.com!
No more diving around Bali to see if a particular shop carries
your items. It’s now all under one roof.
Parking is right in front or under the building. The BaliPCAdvisor
says ‘Give them a call, email, or just drop by’.

Q: Is it hard to add one of those CD units that will let me
make my own CDs? Robin in Kuta
A: Good question Robin. Until several years ago it was
difficult for the average computer user to open the computer
case and connect a CD-RW to his or her computer. Those
days are gone now that manufacturers have created USB CD-RWs.
If your computer already has a USB port and most computers
sold in the last few years have two of these, you’re
in luck. Just remove the CD-RW from it’s box;
plug it into the USB port usually found in the back of the
computer; plug the unit into the electrical outlet; and then
insert the CD that will install all the software for you.
And in a matter of 5 minutes you are creating your own CD
backups; music CDs that you can play in your home CD player;
or create the new MP3 CDs that allows for one CD to hold up
to 10 hours of music.
