Revisit to Bali Computer Center (Rimo) in Denpasar & @Highway in Ubud

Stop the presses.  Today I was going to give you information about how to use the Internet to solve your computer problems.  But let’s save that until the next issue.  Instead I want to let you know about 2 businesses that have really enhanced their services since I discussed them in previous columns.  Bali Computer Center (RIMO) in Denpasar and @Highway in Ubud.

Let’s first discuss Bali Computer Center (RIMO) in Denpasar near Ramayana.  They have now added a 4th floor of computer shops!  Now there are over 50 open shops to supply your computer needs.  Some of the new shops specialize in: notebooks (repairs; upgrades; and previously owned and reconditioned); previously owned and reconditioned desktop computers; PDAs – a whole shop with many to choose from; Networking specialists; monitor repairs; blank  CD-Rs, CD-RWs, and even recordable blank DVDs; accessories to create you own broadcast quality videos; a Logitech store!; a MAC shop; printer cartridge refill shop (they fill your cartridges for you); even a new training shop to learn the latest Microsoft, Adobe, etc. software to make you more productive.  Plus other shops that all compete on price for you.  Have a computer built to your specifications!  Have a question?  Call Pak Rony at (0361) 240176 or fax at  (0361) 240177.  Open everyday 10AM to 10PM.  Lastly, while I was there last week, I saw the neatest must have for the traveling computer user.  It’s called CPU Barebone!  It’s no larger than a hardcover book (and weighs less).  It’s a Pentium4 with built in 100/10 LAN; 2 firewire connections; 4 USP 2.0 connections.  It’s from http://www.Iwill.net.  For 7,799,000rp you get this little ‘desktop’ computer with all the above, plus a slick 15” LCD monitor; keyboard; 128MB RAM; 20GB hard drive; UPS!; DVD; 32MB graphics card; and small Altec Lansing speakers.  Great for traveling.  Go to ComputerOne at RIMO for a look

And in the Ubud area - @HIGHWAY is still the fastest Internet cafe. But it is now larger and has more services for you. They’ve moved down the main street next to the Neka Gallery, near the Post Office. More room! More services! Still - the highest speed internet via satellite with T1 connections stabilized by fiber optics. Fast Pentium 4s & an iMAC; large LCD monitors; both CD & DVD burners; bandwidth on demand for videoconferences; scanners; fast photocopier; high quality color printers. Special desks so you can plug your laptop into their high speed network. They’ve now added training and computer repairs and upgrades. They even do graphic design and web development. Have the latest dreaded VIRUS? They can help you get your computer back and healthy again. Have a digital camera - they can offload your images and burn a CD or DVD for you. Special 249rp/min 10PM to 8AM and membership cards for even lower rates (call them).
