WiFi (short for “wireless fidelity”) is the popular
term for a high-frequency wireless local area network (WLAN).
The WiFi technology is rapidly gaining acceptance in many
companies as an alternative to a wired LAN. It can also
be installed for a home network. The 802.11b (WiFi)
technology operates in the 2.4 GHz range offering data speeds
up to 11 megabits per second. Unless adequately protected,
a WiFi wireless LAN can be susceptible to access from the
outside by unauthorized users, some of whom have used the
access as a free Internet connection.
What does it do for me?
With the proper hardware you can connect to the internet or
a company’s (or your home) LAN (local area network)
with NO wires. Image walking into an internet café
(or your hotel room) and having a high speed internet connection
without attaching any wires to your laptop! Several
hotels and soon, several ISPs will have this capability.

love. It takes your search results and organizes them
into categories! It makes searching even easier.
I’ve also added both Google to my IE toolbar (http://toolbar.google.com/)
but also have added Vivisimo’s minibar (http://vivisimo.com/toolbar/minibar-download.html)!
They work well together!
