What Software Pak Bruce can’t do without! - Part 3

With this Bali PC Advisor article I thought I’d give you the latest additions of my MUST have programs.  It’s what software I use everyday; and more.  So here is the very last (see the last 2 issues for the others) of the list of software titles that I use and love and could not do without, and where to get it, how much, etc.  (You can do a Google search or try http://www.download.com or use the links provided below)

Konfabulator & Widgets (www.konfabulator.com). FREE. It is now called Yahoo Widgets, but don’t be put off by the Yahoo part. The Yahoo! Widget Engine (formerly known as Konfabulator) is a JavaScript runtime engine for Windows and Mac OS X that lets you run little files called Widgets that can do pretty much whatever you want them to. (There are thousands available to use for free) Widgets can be alarm clocks, calculators, can tell you your WiFi signal strength, will fetch the latest stock quotes for your preferred symbols, and even give your current local weather.

Maxthon (http://www.maxthon.com/) FREE. (but it does nag you for a donation). Maxthon Internet Browser software is a powerful tabbed browser with a highly customizable interface. It is based on the Internet Explorer browser engine (most likely, your current web browser) which means that what works in the IE browser will work the same in Maxthon tabbed browser but with many additional efficient features like...
Tabbed Browsing Interface
Mouse Gestures
Super Drag & Drop
Privacy Protection
AD Hunter
RSS Reader
IE Extensions Support
External Utility Bar
Skinning
And Much More

Google Earth (http://earth.google.com/) FREE. Want to know more about a specific location? Dive right in — Google Earth combines satellite imagery, maps and the power of Google Search to put the world’s geographic information at your fingertips.  Look around your neighborhood; see famous sites in the world (not Bali yet!); can generate driving directions between places.  This is truly amazing and fun to try.

MP3 Test (http://www.shivi.de/MP3Test/) FREE. MP3Test checks your MP3 files for errors, for example frame or crc errors. It features batch support and some other nice things to manage your complete MP3 collection to get rid of the broken ones, which can be deleted or moved, for example. MP3Test has got very good ratings from testers (see their homepage).
uTorrent (http://www.utorrent.com/) FREE. µTorrent is an efficient and feature rich  (“http://www.bittorrent.com/introduction.html”) BitTorrent client for Windows, sporting a very small footprint. It was designed to use as little CPU, memory and space as possible while offering all the functionality expected from advanced clients.  Biggest advantage is that you can listen to music as it’s being downloaded – BEFORE the whole album is done!
Allway Sync (http://www.snapfiles.com/get/allwaysync.html) FREE.  Allway Sync is a simple directory synchronization tool that allows you to keep files in two folders synchronized. The folders can be on the local drive, network machine or removable drive, and the differences are shown before the synchronization takes place. You also have the option to exclude selected files or changes the default sync direction. The program analyzes file differences based on an algorithm, rather than the system clock.

EULAlyzer (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/eulalyzer.html) FREE. EULAlyzer can analyze license agreements in seconds, and provide a detailed listing of potentially interesting words and phrases. Discover if the software you’re about to install displays pop-up ads, transmits personally identifiable information, uses unique identifiers to track you, or much, much, more.

TicTocTitle (http://www.donationcoders.com/skrommel/TicTocTitle/TicTocTitle.exe) FREE. Simply displays the current date and time in the active titlebar – has lots of options.

Map24 (http://www.map24.com/) FREE - gives very nice driving directions between points.  Covers MOST of the countries in the world (no, not Indonesia, yet).
