The Body Beautiful! There comes a time in all our lives when sadly our bodies commence the downhill slide, gravity pulls us down literally! So much has been written about diets, exercise regimes, products for the body to tone & rid of fat/cellulite. Of course there are sporting activities to start & then give up! There’s always the gym- weights, the running machine, the bike, power classes etc then there’s yoga, aqua aerobics, pilates & the rest. Recently it came to my attention to check out a studio called BODYLINE using the Power Plate machine - well, it’s fascinating, so read on.
BODYLINE – POWER PLATE
‘A new dimension in Wellness Solutions for all Ages, Lifestyles and Physical Abilities’ What is this all about you may wonder? So, what you have is a new style machine that sort of looks like an upright walking machine except it has a round circular base where all the action takes place. There is also a mat to put over the rubber base when you workout, as well a couple of control panels for monitoring.
Now, this kind of activity is recommended no more than 3 times a week and 30 mins duration. The beauty of this type of exercise is that you sweat very little unlike regular gym workouts so you can take a session and head back to work or continue shopping. Drink plenty of water and eat something before you take your class. And you must have an instructor with you at all times; it’s a very special machine that needs to be handled correctly.
The Manager of Bodyline is Annalisa, a tiny Italian nymph who told me she excelled in gymnastics (artistic expression) when younger, trained at a Sports Academy and qualified to teach, loves all sports but particularly enjoys kickboxing and is a Dive Master. Her body is strong and toned after years of disciplined living and the ideal model to demonstrate the Power Plate technique.
It’s in fact a series of exercises for the different parts of the body. The machine is worked via 3 dimensional mechanical vibrations using G force. There is the up & down vertical vibration (most important for the spine) a horizontal across ways vibration and then there is the backward & forward horizontal vibration.
Basically, there are a series of stances (your instructor will guide you with an individual wall chart nearby to illustrate the stances too) Once you step onto the plate you then take a particular stance and hold for a period of seconds, when the machine is turned on and vibrations will be felt on the particular area of the body you are working on. The vibrations work on the muscles way quicker & more effective than if you were taking full on aerobic classes which is why you can get through your class in a shorter time frame, less stress, more results!
Exercises will vary depending on your body regime, but generally a class will comprise of some stretching exercises to warm up, some to strengthen & balance, some massage exercises & finally some to relax your body.
The benefits are certain if you stick to a consistent regime, and like most regular sessions you will see a great improvement with posture, you will have exude more energy & vitality, improved metabolism, reduced body fat & cellulite, improved blood circulation & better flexibility.
Say no more, it has to be good for you. But like all fitness programs you have to commit and be disciplined and if you want that superstar body (or even just a more toned body) then let’s get on with it!
You can pay as you go, but best to choose a package
