A few new places that have hit town & some beautifying tips to get yourself sorted – go on, get your diary out!
One being a new French hair salon, called Christophe.C. coiffure, Jl Kunti, Seminyak , set back off the road in the small shopping complex, just before Bali Deli, coming down from Jl Raya Seminyak, on the left(have seen some tres chic hairstyles emerge, if you yearn for a new look, then give him a go?) and soon to open is a new holistic wellness retreat slap bang in the heart of Seminyak, the name is Amala, great for those that don’t want/haven’t the time to travel up to Ubud, which as we know is well renowned for clinics & spas.
Walking through the Galeria Mall noticed a Madame Korner skin care centre. I certainly know this salon of note, with headquarters based in Sydney, but haven’t heard of anyone who has experienced a treatment here, maybe you have? Another clinic right next door is Natasha (their main clinic is on the main road to Denpasar from Sanur) this clinic specializes in more of the anti-ageing treatments, but I can’t say I know anyone who has visited this establishment either?
Maybe some of you know that the well known Cozy salon on Sunset Road, (left hand side, driving up from Simpang Siur) is moving just a little way up the road into bigger and better premises. Business has been so good (reflexology and massage) they have outgrown their current location & soon moving on.
Following are some reminders for inner & outer good looks and with Neypi coming up it will offer you the time, peace & quiet to relax & enjoy the solitude of being in your own home –
Drink plenty of Aqua, Ginger or Green tea on a daily basis!
Eat more fish than chicken or meat – there’s a fabulous wholesaler of fish at very affordable prices. By Pass, from Sanur to Kuta, left hand side before the big traffic light intersection, where you turn left for Benoa Harbour.
Salads and vegetables, nuts and brown bread - have you ever shopped at Tiara Dewata, the large supermarket in Denpasar? Well, it’s really good, the produce turns over quickly so you know what you buy is fresh! Fish, chicken & meat, along with quality vegetables & salad greens, it’s a shopping experience; make sure you arrive there late morning just after all the fresh produce has been put out. A large grocery section too.
Another good shopping destination is Bali Buddha Jl Semer, Canggu (just up from Café Moka) and the other in Ubud, opposite the Post Office, providing healthy nourishment plus.
And two new supermarkets worth visiting are – the Canggu Deli, a wonderful offering for those who live in this ‘neck of the woods’ (found on the left hand side before you arrive at the Canggu Club tennis courts, the other is CASA Gourmet, situated down at the back end of Seminyak Square, lots of possibilities here!
In fact, when it comes to food these days, there is so much on offer; all we need is for ‘someone’ to get the prices down on alcoholic beverages! Then we are all set for the Bali dining experience.
Am always amazed at how many ladies don’t even apply a dash of lipstick for daytime. A shame, as one gets older the natural color of lips fade leaving what some might describe as a colorless hole within the face! Come on ladies, check out your bathroom drawer, bet you will find a ‘graveyard’ of lipsticks? It doesn’t have to be bright red or pink but just a soft color that will add a little brightness to your face – there, I know you will feel and look a lot better!
And don’t forget your nails! Honestly, there are just so many salons around there are truly no excuses for shabby feet, likewise fingernails. Be it color or French, or just tidy short clean nails, as long as some attention is given.
Speaking of which, have you ever tried some of these tooth whitener toothpastes? There are a couple of brands found within the toothpaste section at Bali Deli, just be careful initially, use every alternate day with your regular toothpaste. The main issue about these whitening products is that your own enamel can be striped away, which obviously no one wants! But they do work, good to use while waiting for your next dental appointment.
The same for eyes, make-up does add definition – just a little for day, more for evening. Eyelash & brow tints can really make a difference, lasting for about a month. Most of the good hair & beauty salons these days ‘do’ tinting, but why not try Eyelash perming (Glo Day Spa does this treatment, not sure of any others) I have a friend who has this done every time she visits Bali, she loves the results.
So with some lippy and a touch of eye make-up happening, take a look at the color of your hair, which is one of the most important aspects. Instead of continually having highlights, maybe consider including some lowlights which will add more depth, perhaps it’s time to go a little darker or lighter depending on your hair color, and don’t forget henna & the auburn shades too. All I know is as you grow older, one’s hair tends to lose color & luster, so some serious thought is required for your crowning glory, after all, it’s a girls prerogative to change her hair color, as many times as she likes!
Happy Neypi, make sure to buy a new book & some magazines, and live like a couch potato!
