Bali Advertiser - Advertising for The Expatriate Community

SEPTEMBER 8, 2010

So, here you all are, August was your month ‘out on the town’, bet you are now feeling tired and a bit worn, I would suggest perhaps, you have been partying too much?!

Never mind, easy to remedy, what many of you need is a day at your favorite beauty salon, hairdresser & spa for a high level dose of  skin pampering, hair & nail care treatments, exercise to suit your personality? plus a week of eating clear soups, salads & vegetables, drink plenty of aqua, juice, but no alcohol!

You will feel a whole lot better, incredibly better, so, while it’s a little quieter out there on the streets, go and support all our fabulous beauty salons!

Let me tell you about a business, called Bali Wellness Journeys, an integrated wellbeing experience, much more than a massage or spa treatment session, but you will come away with knowledge that will enhance your well being and widen your perspective after experiencing a number of treatments and healing methods.

After years of following traditional western medicines, many people are re-looking at what is on offer from the many integrated wellness treatments & programs. There definitely seems to be a sharing of experiences in the value of traditional healing practices combined with alternative therapies, selected spa experiences, and other options. Guided by local and Western expertise, you will be connected with selected specialists offering a wide range of skills in treatments and practices.

An introduction to naturopathy, which can provide many options for prevention (nutrition, iridology & allergic reaction) Homeopathic remedies, Ayurvedic treatments, Reflexology, body consultation along with an understanding of traditional healing among other forms of practice. At the end of an ‘encounter’, you will find that your body is more united with your soul and spirit, all in order, that you can ‘live longer and prosper’!

Secret Men’s Business!

So, have YOU discovered the traditional Barber Club for Men yet? if not, then -

Look for the traditional striped barber pole on the roadside of No 12b, Jl Petitenget, Kerobokan,  Flexi: 0361 9940095 or

E: bodybeautybalance@yahoo.com.au

(just keep driving around Jl Petitenget from BIKU direction, or you may be driving from Jl Kerobokan, past Metis)

And, one other locator to this newish salon is, opposite WARUNG EROPA, recently refurbished into a super smart, comfortable more modern Warung and known all over Bali for their finger-licking good, crispy duck, Yum yum! Or perhaps, if you are ‘doing the shopping rounds’, drop by for a coffee, iced ginger tea or fresh lime juice. T: 0361 747 1771

Body Beauty Balance is the actual name of the salon, but it’s referred to as, B Male & B female. A fully serviced hair & beauty salon, for men & women.

B female is naturally all about treatments for the females, and plenty of activity here, so let’s go across to the B male section, via the dividing water wall. It’s true, the male domain looks exactly like an authentic men’s barber shop, complete with special chairs, cut throat shaving items all set up & in place.

Speaking with the barbers here, most of the younger crowd, favor either a no-hair look, the five o’clock shadow on the face or longer hair often worn in a pony tail. (mind you, these days & in Bali, anything goes?! ) but, if it’s a slightly older professional guy, someone who wants to ‘make his mark’ to look good, (find him in a government office/property/insurance/ perhaps a car salesman/retail, then this is the guy that is the target client for B male, and you will be treated handsomely!

These guys want to look sharp! Well dressed, to stand out in the crowd, what they don’t need is a head of messy un-cut straggly hair.

The main treatments that seem to be the go are –

Haircuts, color & highlights, head massage, shaving, trimming of excess facial hair, then of course manicures and pedicures for men (just buffed, no polish) mind you, there are some creative types around that will go for a little toenail polish & why not? what about a dark red/brown ?

Massage and Reflexology are par for the course, all to keep that male of yours relaxed & unstressed, so he can escort you out to dinner perhaps.

Now, the other area that is big biz here, is waxing! Yes, girls do like some hair on the chest, but not all over the back or shoulders, so off it comes, wax or clip? And of course there is a Wedding package offer, not only for brides & their maids, but for the possibly flustered groom and his groomsmen, they need some pampering too!

My comment to the men out there is to follow your personal preference in hair styles, most salons accept male clients, but B male has a certain ‘barber shop manliness’ and I often wonder if men, once they have acquired the taste, will  they discover the world of beauty as we girls know it today?!
