How does colon hydrotherapy contribute towards good health?

The basis of good health is in the healthy functioning of the digestive system. If the colon is clean, it will by itself do the important work of detoxifying the body. The main purpose of colon hydrotherapy is the re-hydration of the colon by removing clogging impurities. If these pollutants are allowed to accumulate, they will naturally become toxic and will result in various chronic diseases of the intestines, causing inflammation and ultimately even cancer which is a type of auto-intoxication. Other benefits are the stimulation of the peristaltic system of the colon by rehabilitating the colon’s nerve system, activating the digestive gland and increasing immunity. All of these benefits will restore the proper functioning of the colon.

Who discovered colon hydrotherapy?

It was discovered in the USA by Dr. Kellogg in 1917. In that year he reported in the Journal of American Medicine that many digestive problems could be cured with colon hydrotherapy.

Is the therapy painful?

The treatment causes just a little bit of discomfort, but it is tolerable, especially when you keep in mind its enormous benefits. A slight discomfort occurs when the clean, sterilized, low-pressure cool water fills the patient’s colon. A treatment session only lasts an hour and will not injure the colon.

How many treatments are required to make a difference in how a person feels?

We suggest starting out with three times weekly, but if the patient has serious digestive problems or constipation we might suggest up to six times over a two week period. After that, for the maintenance of the digestive system and to maximize health and vitality, we suggest once a month and then repeated once every two months.

Is it expensive?

Each treatment costs Rp400,000 net. This is not considered expensive for a detoxification program administered by an experienced team of colonic specialists. We use the Dotolo system from Florida because only this machine achieves consistently good results.

Where did your colon hydrotherapists train?

Our therapists - Nurse Betty, Nurse Dini, Nurse Linda and Nurse Yuni - did their training at Sentra Holistik in Jakarta, a member of IACT (International Association for Colon Hydrotherapy). They can be found at www.i-act.org

What countries in the world is this therapy used?

The treatment is becoming increasingly popular all over the world, but is particularly well-established in the States, Japan and Singapore. Here in Bali the therapy is popular with Australians, Japanese, Americans, Europeans and it is even catching on with the local people. In Indonesia, this type of therapy is only practiced in Bali, Surabaya and Jakarta.

For which diseases or injuries is colon hydrotherapy effective?

It’s an outstanding choice for constipation, chronic diarrhea, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), chronic gastritis, allergies, abdominal bloating and discomfort, headaches, lack of immunity to illness, skin problems and certain geriatric conditions. The treatment is even helpful as a part of a weight loss program, but it’s not recommended for people with hemorrhoids or those who have just had abdominal surgery.

What are the most serious health problems facing people who live on Bali?
