Honouring The Feminine In You

If you’re not sure about which way to go, or what your life path is, this is for you.
 
Look at any advertisement, and you will see that they all appeal to a feeling.  They are selling not just products, but the feelings that those products will create.  Why?  Because feelings are what motivate us.  We move torwards and desire certain feelings, such as love, freedom, power, hope, and move away from others such as pain, anxiety, and fear.
 
The executive who gets a bright red sportscar doesn’t just want the car – he (or she) wants to feel powerful, noticed, special, successful.  The woman who has a new hairdo wants to feel beautiful, attractive and loved. And so on.
 
The active part of you that does things, makes things happen, is the Masculine, which we all have within us.  We use our Masculine side to design what we are going to do with our lives.  Plans, projects, careers.  However, it is the Feminine side of us (which again, we all have) that feels.  And the feeling side is where we will discover our true desires.  Without reference to feelings, the Masculine tends to go off on a tangent, create all sorts of things, then get to the top of the mountain and go ‘oops!  I don’t want to be here!’  So that’s why it is really important to get in touch with your feminine side and your feelings, in order to design your plans, so that they have true meaning for you.
 
Meeting The Feminine Meditation
 
Relax, breathe, and imagine yourself in a delightful green wood.  Walk gently among the scented flowers, until you reach a shady place, by water, where your Feminine is looking at herself in the glassy water.  How is she feeling?  Ask, and listen.  Spend as long as you want listening to your Feminine, and when ready, gently return.
 
How was your inner Feminine?  If you haven’t been listening lately, you may find her weeping.  Sometimes we whizz about doing things, and don’t realise how it makes us feel.  We all need nurturing, peace, rest, love.  When the Masculine drags us from pillar to post, making us so active and busy, something just wilts inside!  It is this that we need to listen to and respond to.  The aim is to achieve balance between doing and being.
 
Living Your Life Purpose
 
Most people think of ‘life purpose’ as a task oriented thing – like ‘be a successful parent’ or ‘run a successful business’.  However, true life purpose is much simpler and more elemental – for example, ‘express more love’ or ‘learn to forgive’ – things which are about feelings.  These are the soul level urges that we have come here to discover.  And yes, you can express these through projects, however if you get clear on the essence of what you wish to create first, identify the feeling you require, and ask the Universe for that, it is easier for it to be given to you as you are not limiting the ways of creation.
 
Another common misconception about ‘life purpose’ is that it will be given to you like a tablet of stone ‘you are here to build a building’ or whatever.  In actual fact it unfolds step by step, as you develop. If you allow your feelings to guide you, moment by moment, and find the courage to truly go towards whatever ‘feels most good’ at any given time, you will be guided to your true destiny.  The Universe works on feeling and you literally ‘feel your way’ towards your destiny.
 
Follow Your Feet
 
Often the body knows something that the brain yet doesn’t!  Once I was driving in fog, at night, and my foot suddenly came off the accelerator.  I then realised I was right behind a truck and about to collide with it!  My body-sense, or sixth-sense, saved me, fortunately, without me even thinking about it.
 
Here’s a fun and powerful exercise that activates  body-sense and feelings.  Put on some music, and begin to move your feet.  Just let them go where they will. Notice your feelings.  Moving upwards, allow each part of your body a turn at leading the movement and see where it goes.  Finally your whole body is moving.  When ready, sit quietly and write down your thoughts and feelings.  If you have a problem, move and dance about the problem.  You will be amazed at what discover!
 
Listen For Your Feelings
 
Often when I draw a diagram for my clients of their inner masculine it is a little stick man with ‘X’s through the ears!  For not listening!  The most important way of honouring the feminine within you is to listen.  Get quiet, meditate, walk in nature, and just feel.  Allow some time to get in touch with what you are truly feeling, and what you would like to feel.  Talk to your feeling side.
 
Other Ways of Honouring The Feminine
 
Anything to do with beauty, just being, and sensuality connects with the feminine.  Scented bubble baths, candles, walks in nature, reading a magazine, fluffy cappucinos, are all the province of the feminine.  Allow yourself to do more of these sorts of things – and honour the feminine within you.  You will be rewarded with her wisdom, knowing, intuition, appreciation, and with deeper meaning in everything you do!
