Healing Limitations to Wealth

A film-star setting.  A huge, airy apartment with giant windows, pale gold opulent curtains floating gently in a light breeze looking over the ocean.  Big luxurious books on the shiny glass coffee table.  Huge white fragrant lilies in a white china vase.  Lots of space.

What is your idea of wealth, and opulence?  And is it attainable, or already a part of your life?

The environment that we grow up in has a big effect on our ‘wealth consciousness’.  We have no judgement as children, so the way our parents are with money seeps deeply into us as ‘normal’.  Wealthy people, surrounded by the trappings of wealth, naturally attract – more wealth!  (The Universe helpfully provides whatever we believe we have already).  If you have not grown up with ‘wealth consciousness’ or if you are surrounded by an environment that looks ‘poor’ then an effort of will is required to create the ‘feeling’ of wealth, so that you can then attract actual wealth.  A feeling of poverty, lack and ‘not enough’, unfortunately attracts more of the same.

Wealth Meditation

Relax, breathe, and invite one of your angels or guides to take you to your special place of wealth. Have a look around. What can you see?  Smell?  Taste?  Notice how you feel and act.  If you want to make changes or additions, ask your angel for help in making them.  Ask for help in raising your level of wealth consciousness and retaining it.  When ready, gently return to the room.

Now, take a moment to reflect on what you learned.  How does it feel to be wealthy?  If there is any feeling of discomfort, you have a judgement or fear about being wealthy.  For example, a judgement is ‘wealthy people are evil, bad, non-spiritual, low’ etc.  (So of course, you would not want to be like them – so that judgement will stop you ever being wealthy).  A common fear is ‘I’m afraid if I’m wealthy, no-one will like me and I’ll be alone’.

As with all judgements and fears, they are not ‘real’, they are just ideas that limit us.

Exercise

Take ten minutes to write down all your judgements about wealthy people.  For example:  ‘Rich people are bad, Wealthy people are non-spiritual, Rich people are low class’ etc.  Then, reflect on it, as you ask yourself ‘is this really true?’  And, ‘is it ok for me to be rich?’  (As Groucho Marx said, it has to be ok to join the club, for you to want to join it!)

Now, take ten minutes to write down your fears about wealth, riches, luxury, money, cash.  You may have different fears about each one.  For example:

I’m afraid if I’m wealthy, no-one will like me and I’ll be alone.
I’m afraid if I’m wealthy I will be cruel and irresponsible with my money.  I’m afraid if I’m rich I’m depriving someone else.
I’m afraid I don’t know how to manage cash etc.

Keep going until you can’t think of any more.

Reflect on your fears about money.  They are only fears.  They are not real.  Just acknowledge them, embrace them, and let them go.  (You wouldn’t really be cruel and mean with money if you had it, would you!  You wouldn’t really be alone, would you?  Might you not just feel… really good?)

Get that Wealthy Feeling

Review your normal surroundings.  Do they make you feel opulent and wealthy?  If not, then you need to do some ‘camera tricks’ to make yourself feel wealthy, so that you can attract more wealth into your life.  Clean and clear your space, and add some ‘props’ that feel luxurious – lovely flowers, a swathe of gold silk around your mirror, a yummy cake in your fridge, delicious bath oil in the bathroom.  Just take a moment to reflect on what makes you feel luxurious and rich, and begin to add those things to your life.  Try to feel the feeling of being rich as often and as long as you can.

Visioning Wealth Exercise

Make a collage of opulent images from magazines, with photos of yourself, and place it where you see it often.  Also consider creating a ‘positive wealth journal’ – a mini book that you keep in your back pocket, only for positive writing about what you wish to attract, with positive images stuck inside.

Begin to save, if you don’t already - ‘like attracts like’, so when the Universe knows you have ‘a money stash’, however small, it miraculously adds to it!
