Living Your Dream

I just spent an enjoyable evening playing ‘Risk’ with my housemates. It’s a war-game and we spent hours laying out troops, amassing on borders, and blowing each other up! It was fascinating the feelings and aggression it brought up and two players even exchanged angry words at one point. That’s competitiveness for you! Win/lose, not win/win. Some alliances were formed but of course, with self-interest at heart they could not last!

You might guess that war games are not really my ‘thing’. I managed a sedate Ghandi-esque strategy of reinforcing my troops in the blue waters of Europe, not attacking anybody, and allowing them to deplete their troops in the process of attacking me. To my delight I ended up with a rather successful bastion in the centre of the board. It’s a long game, and nothing is certain, just a feeling of gratitude at still being a player! (Two players were vanquished). I wonder, what is your ‘game strategy’? And how do you feel about playing, or ‘winning’ in life?

‘Winning’ and ‘Playing’ Beliefs

Before you can live your dream, you must be willing to play, and win, in the ‘game of life. So let’s begin by reprogramming any negative subconscious beliefs blocking you:

(It’s safe to do all of them, to be sure.)

I’m a sham, life is a sham, a shame
It’s ‘just a game’ I don’t wish to play
Life isn’t fair
I’m greedy, I take more than my fair share
I’m not special
If I win, I’m depriving others
I deprive myself
Win/win isn’t possible
It’s not ok to win because someone has to lose
‘Win’ equals ‘feel bad’
I’m reluctant to play the game of life in case I win and then feel bad
I’m not a winner
I’m a loser
I don’t have the resources I need to live my dream
Living my dream isn’t possible
1. I won’t live my dream
2. I will live my dream**
** 2 stage process. Change 1. and then 2.
Changing a Belief

To change a negative belief, simply embrace, acknowledge, and surrender to it, which turns it off . The process* is to say out loud:

“I choose to believe (‘m not a winner), I love myself when I believe (I’m not a winner) and I embrace it, I surrender.”

As you say the belief, feel how you feel when you have the belief. As you embrace it, imagine you are hugging a small crying child, and as you surrender, acknowledge and let go. You only need do it once, for each belief. Drink lots of water, and rest after.

‘Game of Life’ Meditation

Breathe deeply, imagine you are floating in a boat on a sparkly sea. Lay back, relax, as the current carries you to a vortex. The boat gradually circles to the vortex centre. You and the boat are pulled underwater, in an air bubble so you can breathe. At the sea-bed, open a stone trap door to reveal twenty stone steps. Walk down the steps to a big cavern. Cross the cavern to reach a door, and enter a room where your ‘guru of life’ greets you.

You now have two minutes, equal to all the time that you need, to consult with your guru about ‘the game of life’.

Relax and enjoy the consultation. When ready, leave the room, return through the cave, and up the stone steps. At the sea-bed, your boat returns you gently to the water’s surface, and the vortex slowly spins you out to the glittering sea. When you are ready, gently return to the room.

Know Your Dream

You need to know your dream before you can live it! So refer to your answers to the Vision article in the last issue and remind yourself (if you missed it, it’s available online at www.baliadvertiser.biz)

Resources Exercise

Now that you’re willing to play to win, and know what your dream looks like, it’s time to marshall resources, develop strategy, and implement your plan for living your dream! How exciting!

Let your mind run free as you write about ten alternate possibilities for each of these questions.

What’s stopping me living my dream is…

What I need to live my dream is…

If I perfectly organised resources towards living my dream, I would…

If I released all limitations and was completely free to live my dream, I would…

Reflect on your answers, plan and take the necessary actions.

(You may be surprised to find that you are ‘living your dream’ already!)

Be happy, living your dream!
