Berawa Beach Set to Come Alive With Local Culture and Tradition

Bali is so much more than sunsets and Sunday brunches and February is your chance to sample some of the amazing culture and traditions this beautiful and unique island has to offer. From Feb 22nd – 25th Berawa Beach will come alive with the 2018 Beach Arts Festival, offering an opportunity for culture vultures to get a good dose of Balinese tradition, cuisine, art, music and entertainment.

An initiative of the Badung Government and specifically the Badung Tourism Promotions Board, the festival is set to present local and foreign guests with a fantastic cross section of culture across four days of activities, competitions and entertainment in a celebration of true Balinese traditions. The community of Tibubeneng Village along with Wantilan Pura Perancak and awesome beachfront venues, Finns Beach Club and LV8 will combine to host a comprehensive array of exhibitions and activities from painting and craft workshops for kids, cooking classes and boat building demonstrations, contemporary and traditional dance performances and sand sculpture competitions right here on Berawa Beach!

Come down on Day 1 – Thursday February 22nd, from 7am to see masterpieces in the making as the sand sculptors get to work on painstakingly crafting their winning creations on the pantai in the ‘Lomba Patung Pasir (sand sculpting contest). The Minister of Tourism will conduct the official opening ceremony from 3pm with art exhibitions and a cultural dance display to follow. The evening entertainment line up across the four days of the festival promises performances from a number of Bali’s top musicians including bands Lolot, Rocktober and 4WD, along with celebrated reggae artist Joni Agung and friends and Indonesian Ethnic Jazz artist, Balawan.

The towering palm trees that frame Finns Beach Club’s Lawn are set to be transformed by Artjog from Jakarta, posing as quite the backdrop for the rest of the festival activities! Day 2 offers a show of traditional dance and Gamelan performance along with a shadow puppet show – something many a beach combing Bali visitor may not usually have an opportunity to witness on their holiday to this tropical tourist mecca. Afternoon entertainment on Day 3 consists of a Balinese comedy show and contemporary dance competition, with the pace changing somewhat into the evening with reggae beats from Joni Agung and friends, live from the main stage at Berawa Beach!

Day 4 starts early for avid anglers with an amateur inshore fishing competition and a display and discussion about those colourful, traditional Balinese fishing boats we see adorning the island beaches. Join in the fun and flavours of a Balinese Cooking Class from 10m ’til 1pm followed by presentation of prizes and the closing ceremony. But by no means does the fun stop there… the festival will wind up on a high note with the Koosal Kecak performance and a closing set by Balawan and the full Ethnic Band.

Whether you choose to drop in for a few of these festival events or make a long weekend of it, February’s Berawa Beach Arts Festival promises a plethora or cultural performances, customs, competitions, cuisine and above all, a display of local community coming together to ensure visitors and locals alike get a taste of the real Bali, in turn, promoting further appreciation and longevity of this island’s unique traditions! Join us on Berawa Beach from Thursday February   22nd – 25th for a dose of Berawa beach life. Elevate Your Performance

Ever wondered why those trampoline boards look suspiciously like a little, soft snowboard? Cos that’s kinda how the idea to create a Bounce Board came about! Determined to practice his flying techniques during the off season, a young American lad wanted to create something his mum would let him use to get even more height on the backyard trampoline! He was keen to design something a little lighter and softer around the edges to use instead of his snowboard so that he could keep all of his teeth (smart boy!)

The result was a curved, padded and flexible board made of a much lighter and softer material that meant he could get even more air! Apparently mum approved and he was encouraged by his high school teachers to patent the idea. Numerous prototypes and fourteen years later, the Bounce Board has become a popular addition to trampolines across the world and a tool used by many a surfer, skateboarder, skier and snowboarder to hone and perfect their jumping skills without the need for ramps, rails, half pipes…..or snow for that matter!

Now you’re not likely to get any snow on this tropical isle, but Bounce Bali has plenty of these boards available for you to practice your flips, Mctwists, Ollies and more! Love to jump? Get more height and take your airtime tricks to another level with Bounce Boards. Strong and sturdy and constructed of dense EVA foam, Bounce Boards mean you can jump higher for longer. Double D ring straps wrap over your foot to securely attach the board and all you have to do then is bounce!

An innovative piece of equipment that is finding its way into the regular and off season training practices and programs of many professional sportspeople, the Bounce Board is an effective and fun cross training accessory that helps build power, guarantee safer landings, improve twists and turns and most of all, give even more elevation to your jumps.

You can try them out at Bounce Bali today for only Rp70k for 20 minutes – no Bounce Pass required! Bounce Boards are also being incorporated into the Junior Sports Academy weekly trampolining classes as a new element of their Term 3 program. Save your skateboards for the sidewalk and your wakeboard for the water, but be sure to try out these cool tools the next time you are visiting Bounce Bali.

Book online at bouncebali.com today, or book in person at Bounce Reception. Fly high and have fun!
