How does Botox work?
Botox blocks the signals from the nerves to the muscles so that the muscle can no longer contract, causing wrinkles and frown lines to relax and soften. It’s commonly used on the forehead lines, crow’s feet (those little lines around the eyes) and frown lines. However, you need an experienced doctor who knows where to place the injections and how much to use. I’ve heard horror stories of people who’ve been given too much and can no longer move their facial muscles, leaving them with a frozen expression. Or improperly injected near the eyes have resulted in drooping muscles around the eye. Not a pretty picture. That’s why it’s important to have an experienced doctor. I always love going into ARC Anti-aging Clinic, which is very spacious and bright embellished with original art works. Rather like entering an art gallery, making me relax the moment I walk in. I went in for a free consultation with Dr. Chandra to assess my face where Botox would be the most beneficial to enhance my looks. Looking carefully at my skin and asking me to frown and lifting the skin while looking in the mirror. Dr. Chandra has been working for ARC for many years and is very experienced with a very pleasant personality encouraging trust in her professional abilities. Then she asked me to step into the adjoining room for the procedure.
Lying comfortably on a purple reclining bed/chair I felt relaxed as the nurse applied an ice pack over the area where the injections would be made. She showed me the certified Botox Allergan bottle from the USA to assure me that they only use this product in ARC.
Step by step the nurse applied a cold pack to an area on my face to numb it a little before Dr. Chandra injected the Botox into my skin. When she was ready for the forehead she asked me to frown to pinpoint the correct spot for the injection. With the numbing there was very little pain for the injections. The whole procedure only took about half an hour.
Afterwards the nurse handed me an aftercare instructions and a small jar of arnica.
Aftercare
- Do not rub or massage the treated area for 24 hours post-treatment
- No sun exposure for 24 hours post treatment. Wear a good quality
sunscreen SPF 15 or above
- No swimming for 24 hours post treatment
- No facials or anti-aging facial treatments for 2 weeks post treatment
- Avoid excess perspiration (exercise, spicy foods, etc) for 24 hours
- Avoid air travel for 24 hours (Headaches have been reported to occur during air travel)
- Ice and Arnica cream may be applied to the treated areas immediately after the procedure should bruising or swelling occur.
Botox Party
If you have a group of friends of 3 to 6 people you can have a Botox party. For maximum 3 persons you can get 120 units of Botox for 9.500.000 Rp or 6 people for 200 units for 14,400.000 Rp. Light Lift- Needle Method for the Neck
