October 14-15 will be a busy sporting weekend with the Bali Rugby Fest in Jimbaran, the Bali Flames Netball Invitational in Canggu and the Bali Triathlon.



 The 10th Herbalife Bali International Triathlon (HBIT) 2017

For the third consecutive year, Herbalife Indonesia is the title sponsor for this event that combines swimming, cycling and running over both an Olympic Distance and shorter Sprint Distance course.

First held in 2007,  the 10th running of  the Herbalife Bali International Triathlon will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2017.To accommodate a growing number of race participants and spectators, the 2017 Herbalife Bali International Triathlon will remain at the picturesque and welcoming traditional village of Sanur.As in years past, the swim start of the race starts just after sunrise with this year’s race stroking the calms waters off Sanur’s Mertasari Beach, followed by bike sprints down the Ngurah Rai By Pass in Sanur to the IB Mantra By Pass in Gianyar and back to the beach side transition area before finishing with a road race through the streets of Sanur.

Bali International Triathlon is Indonesia’s oldest Olympic Distance Triathlon and has been dubbed the “Triathlon for the Soul” by those who have enjoyed its exotic location and unrivaled competitive experience. The race was won various international awards, including “Best Destination Triathlon.” As in year’s past, this year the triathlon consists of two distances operated over three categories:  Olympic (swim 1.5 kilometer , cycle 40 kilometer , run 10 kilometer), Sprint (swim 500 meter, cycle 20 kilometer , run 5 kilometer) and 5 kilometer Fun Run, which is expected to draw 1.500 participants.

This year’s title sponsor, Herbalife Indonesia, is part of the worldwide nutritional organization, now working in 90 nations around the world.Back in 2015 in its first year as the title sponsor, Herbalife’s championing of good health, sound nutrition and a healthful life style is a mirror-reflection of the lifestyle embraced by dedicated triathletes. Herbalife has been a longtime sponsor of the 2016 Bali Triathlon  winner – Indonesia’s Andy Wibowo. Wibowo a surprise omission from Indonesia’s SEA games national team whilst being the best world ranked Indonesian triathlete, has long extolled the virtues of healthy food and supplements. Wibowo will seek a back to back win in this years Bali Triathlon, and send a message to the Indonesian national federation and selectors for next years Asian Games in Jakarta.

More than 2,000 athletes are expected to join the Olympic, Sprint and Fun Run at the 2017 Bali International Triathlon. As in year past, the organisers  expect all age categories to be well represented  with participants from Indonesia and from more than 29 foreign countries expected to travel to Bali. From year to year, the number of participants have steadily increased, from 150 participants at the first race in 2007 to more than 1,500 participants in 2016 reflecting the increase in the awareness of middle class Indonesians  of fitness.

There will be a welcoming cocktail reception on the Friday night, October 13 before the race.Followed by a bike tour and Balinese bike blessing on Saturday, October 14, 2017. A popular “high carb” pre-race dinner on Saturday, October 14, 2017 followed by a race sundown party.
