Queens Tandoor, Seminyak, has continued to provide its Indian cuisine as takeaway and home delivery throughout the pandemic. Now they have a special offer for Tuesdays which they have renamed TWOSDAYS. Order two different curries but only pay for one. You can order from their extensive menu that covers all the different regions of India. My favourite two would be their ambrosial Chicken Tikka Makhanwala [pictured, often referred to as Butter Chicken] and the vinigery Mutton Vindaloo [a Goan speciality. Pieces of mutton marinated with vinegar and a blend of spices], with perhaps an extra vegetarian side dish of Harra Bhara Kebab [Deep fried patties of vegetables, cheese, paneer with herbs]. Though being anything but a vegetarian, I could enjoy an all vegetarian meal at Queens Tandoor anytime. Home delivery is available 7 days a week, free to the Seminyak area or by Go-Jek and Grab to other areas. Dine –in is now also available Thursday to Sunday with their ‘All you can eat” Tandoor [kebabs, chicken, fish and vegetables] every Sunday from 12.00 p.m. for just Rp. 180,000.
Kubu Bali is a hideaway in Jl. Sentanu, Kedisan, Tegalalang. Whilst the food is basic, the setting is quite outstanding On offer is a rather standard Indonesian menu, with both local and international dishes, an attempt to provide something for everyone. So there are Sandwiches [Club] and Burgers [crumbed chicken], Soups [ginger pumpkin], Pasta [Bolognese and Carbonara], Salads [chicken], and Pizzas [vegetarian, Hawaiian]. The local menu includes Chicken [Kare, Cap Cay and Panggang], Ikan Goreng Asam Manis Mujair, Ikan Nyat- Nyat Mujair, Tipat Cantok, Ikan Bakar Mujair, and rice and noodle dishes. However the fact that there is a Chicken ‘Golden Blue’ on the menu and that French Fries and traditionally Indonesian tells you all you need to know about the F & B management.
Aperitif, the fine dining restaurant at Ubud’s The Viceroy continues to offer unique dining experiences. This one is an old one re-visited, by popular demand, a Black Truffle Dinner, an 8 course degustation, Friday September 11, for Rp..1,250,000++, pre bookings are essential. As an added attraction, if you book for any special event, such as this, at Aperitif, you are also entitled to book a pool villa at The Viceroy for that night at a very special price. What a great birthday special or maybe for a 2nd honeymoon?

Koral is still Bali’s most unique restaurant. it is an amazing underwater seafood restaurant. It is found at one of this year’s new 5 star luxury resorts, the Apurva Kempinsky, north west of Nusa Dua. You can watch fish swim by through the adjoining large glass windows as you feast on their siblings. The windows take up entire walls so you do really feel as if you are under water, effectively you are dining in an aquarium. Apart from the normal a la carte menu there is also a super special Gourmet Degustation from Chef Andrea Antone. Start with a Shiitake Espuma, a gold sphere of fish with sesame crumble then a Carpaccio of Barramundi marinated with Balinese flavors, Sturia caviar, fennel ginger mousse and cucamelon, shallots and lemongrass. The Lobster is a slow poached spiny lobster cooked in red curry sauce, black agnolotti, cassava and vegetables. A Duo of Lamb is with butternut tartlet, mustard caviar, black garlic and korma coulis. Finish with a Strawberry Crème Brulee, Sablé, vanilla cream, strawberry mousse, strawberry guava ice cream, caramelized Munti Gunung walnutu. A prior reservation is essential. An experience to remember!
