Bali For Kids

This week, I’m doing a roundup of my daughter’s favorite adventure activities in Bali. From being afraid of the water at 2, and only wanting to paddle in the shallow end of a pool, she now, at 12, enjoys challenging herself with adventure activities, especially around water. However, while she is almost a teenager, she still enjoys climbing air castles and going down slides as well, so I’ve included her perennial favorite, Bali Fun World.

Bali Fun World (Jl. Lettu I Wayan Sutha II, Br. Peninjoan, Batuan, Sukawati, Gianyar) is a 2000 square meter indoor entertainment center near Sukawati Art Market, about 20 minutes from Ubud. The center is stocked with slides, giant inflatable climbing towers, trampolines for jumping and much more.

The center offers a ball pool, mini slides, playhouses, swings, mini cars and mini-climbing equipment for small children. For older children, there is a climbing castle, a giant slide, trampolines with bungee jumping, air hockey tables, a rodeo bull ride, padded sumo wrestling, boxing and gladiator gear and more. For adults, Bali Fun World offers a café with plenty of seating, free coffee or tea and free wifi.

The equipment is set up according to international safety standards and some of the equipment has maximum weight limits of 100 kg. Not all the slides and trampolines have attendants on them, so you need to watch your kids or go on the equipment with them, particularly young children.

Admission fees are USD $15 for adults or children for all day use, while children under 18 months and adults over 60 enter for free. They only accept cash. Bali Fun World will also host birthday parties and other events. You need to make a booking and provide the cake. Group fees apply for parties. Contact Bali Fun World for a quote. If your kids like water fun, they will love WaterBom Water Park (Jl. Kartika Plaza, Tuban, Kuta). Ranked as the Number One water park in Asia by Trip Advisor, Water Bom is built across nearly four hectares in Kuta, across from the Discovery Mall.

The park features numerous rides and attractions, ranging from mellow to moderate to extreme. On the mellow end of the spectrum, the Lazy River meanders sedately allowing raft riders to slowly ride or paddle around a long loop. This ride is good for small children with parents or people with mobility issues as it’s a gentle, easy flow. On the more challenging level are moderate rides like the Constrictor, Python and SuperBowl, as well as exhilarating and faster extreme rides for older children and adults, such as Smashdown, Twin Racers, Pipeline and Double Twist.

The park also offers attractions such as Flow Rider, which lets you practice body boarding/surfing on a wave machine, The Water Blaster for young children and bungee jumping with a safety harness. All rides and attractions are built and maintained to strict international safety standards. Each ride has a minimum height and age requirement; for children under six, parents must ride with their children.

WaterBom keeps 50% of the park as green space, and houses a number of endangered species native to Bali. In addition to winning Trip Advisor and World Travel Awards, WaterBom has also received awards from EarthCheck and Tri Hita Karana, recognizing the park’s environmental and sustainability efforts. WaterBom also supports the 1,000 Bamboo Villages Program, which encourages bamboo planting in villages in Kintamani to control erosion, reduce rainwater runoff and offer agro-forestry employment for locals.

Cafes, restaurants and bars are available on the premises. Food and drinks are not included in the ticket price. Single-day passes are available for IDR 327,000 for children 2-11 and IDR 455,000 for adults. Family packages are available for IDR 1,435,000.
