Forgo Your Latte To Save A Furry Friend

The fallout from Mt Agung’s major eruption in September 2017 might have diminished but the many animals that somehow survived the ash,rock and lava are still in dire need of our help! Despite continued rumblings and somewhat uncertain conditions on the mighty mountain, BAWA heads up to Mt Agung on a daily basis to feed the hundreds of dogs and cats that would certainly perish without the help of this tireless team!

But it’s already been eighteen months since that first eruption and the situation is now critical! There are so many pets that have lost their homes, are now living off the streets or with owners who no longer have the means to take care of them. BAWA is desperately trying to continue their quest to feed the animals and provide basic, medical care to keep these creatures alive but they urgently need your help as supplies have all but run out!

Any assistance in the form of monetary donations, food and medical supplies would be greatly appreciated. If you have the capacity to foster or adopt an animal please contact them immediately as helpless cats and dogs continue to arrive at BAWA’s veterinary clinics and adoption centres daily.

Please help BAWA to help our four legged friends in any way you can. No donation or bag of food is too tiny and even the smallest contribution helps to save the life. These animals desperately need your help. $25 can make 50 meals; $50 provides medical treatment for two dogs/cats;

$100 can treat, vaccinate, sterilise and feed one animal for a month!

Why not forgo your morning latte to help a furry friend in need and donate today.

AFL For The ANZACS

What was to be an Anzac Day clash between the Bali Geckos and Myanmar at Finns Rec Club has perhaps become something even more significant. April 20 will see the Indonesian Volcanoes travel to Vung Tau for an AFl friendly with the Vietnam Swans. Located in Southern Vietnam in the Phuoc Tuy Province, Vung Tau is not far from Long Tan – the location of one of the most recognised Australian battles of the Vietnam War. The on field clash presents as a fitting way to remember the fallen from over fifty years ago.

Comprised of players from all four Indonesian AFL teams – Bali Geckos, Borneo Bears, Jakarta Bintangs and the newly formed Batam Bats; the Volcanoes will be looking to reprise the success of last year’s season as AFL Asian Champions.

Despite the absence of Iive footy action on the Finns field this Anzac Day, The Sports Bar and Bistro C will be sure to screen the annual Anzac Day clash between Essendon and Collingwood, live across over thirty screens from around 1pm local time so don’t miss out on a seat and go to finnsrecclub.com for further details.

Not content to let the guys get all the glory, this season has seen the ladies launch their own team – The Bali Pink Geckos. Petite name perhaps, but checkout their weekly training sessions at 5pm on the Finns field every Wednesday and you’ll soon see that these girls mean business! Already seeing a positive turnout at training from a variety of different nationalities, the Pink Geckos look to field a team at the AFL Asian Championships this August. Keen to give it a go? Drop by FRC on Wednesday afternoons and join a training session! .

Finns Adds Flavour To Midweek Meals

Work, kid wrangling and playing taxi, means nobody needs a stint in the kitchen prepping family meals the kids probably won’t eat anyway! Bistro C at Finns Rec Club have themed week night meal deals to ease the stress.

Go Italian on Tuesdays with pizza and pasta night. Choices abound with huge range of toppings over New York Style crusts.Try crowd pleasers like Pepperoni or Margherita or the smoky sensation of Pulled Pork. Not sold on the slice? Tuck into some fresh pasta. Whether it’s plump parcels of handmade tortellini or cannelloni bursting with beef, mushroom and mozzarella in a rich tomato sauce, creamy carbonara, or tagliatelle topped with seafood, tasty Tuesdays are hard to beat.

Sample world flavours with Street Food Wednesdays as they feature international dishes ranging from comfort foods from cooler climes to spicy Asian offerings and exotic flavours of Latin America and beyond.

Each month focuses on cuisine from a different continent. April means feasts from the Middle East with Mezze trios of Tzatziki, Babaganoush and Hummus and accompanying pita dippers. Tour the Orient in May with Indian curry, Japanese Temaki and Chinese BBQ pork noodles, or stick with comforts of home and an Indonesian sate.

If international flavours are not to your taste, try BBQ Thursdays to pick your fresh cut of premium steak or seafood cooked just the way you like it! Pile that plate high with sides from the salad bar and bingo! Dinner is served!
