2015 BALI INDOOR CRICKET LEAGUE – Season III
The 3rd season of the Bali Indoor Cricket League began on Sunday, 30th November, and as usual, in sync with the beginning of the rainy season.
This season sees the league growing to 8 teams with 2 Denpasar High School teams (SMA5 & SMK2) joining the returning teams including the Defending Champions – The Geckos, Denpasar CC, Bali United CC, BSF Cricket Academy, Flying Cooks and the guys from Canggu & Inaugural Champions, now known as the Bali Lost Boys.
Each round (played fortnightly) will see 4 games played from 11am to 5pm with each team playing each other once before the Semi-Finals and the Grand Final on the 22nd March.
And a first for Indonesia, will see the beginning of the Putri (Girls) Bali Indoor Cricket League on the 7th December. Played on the alternate week from the men’s league, the new league offers a great introduction to the game for girls and allows the current girl players to enhance their skills during the rainy season.
4 teams are currently entered in the Putri League: Denpasar, Red Ants, BSF & Badung with games to be played from Midday to 2pm.
RESULTS OF ROUND 1 – MENS:
SMK2 149 def. SMA5 42 – First games in the Indoor format for these 2 high schools, however, the SMK2 team had some boys with some more experience playing for them. Just the beginning for them and watch their development grow rapidly for the experience.
DENPASAR CC vs BALI LOST BOYS – (postponed)
FLYING COOKS 107 def. BALI UNITED CC 85 – The partnership of brothers, Wayan Sam & Danny with 41 runs and some sharp fielding by the older fellas saw the Flying Cooks in control the whole match over their younger rivals while taking the club’s second win ever! (NOTE: Flying Cooks first win , ironically, came in the opening round of last season, but failed to notch another win after that.)
GECKOS 102 def. BSF CRICKET ACADEMY 92 – The defending champs looked in control the whole match with a strong opening partnership from Captain Anthony & Hinchy (39 runs) and then Rod & Rocco followed up with 37 runs. BSFCA started slowly and a costly error by Wisnu who was run out after a hitting a six, meant the 12 run turnaround on that wicket was the difference. (NOTE: Rod soldiered on after coming off for worse with an altercation with the Futsal goals.)
Upcoming Rounds for the Mens League: 14 Dec/11 Jan/25
Next Rounds for the Putri League: 07 Dec/21 Dec/18 Jan
