2017 Yak Awards (22 December)
The Yak Awards have become one of Bali’s top events and recognize the outstanding achievements of people and top places and events. If you have not been to the Yak awards before then you are in for a real treat. It is a vibrant gathering of VIPs and the community. It is going to be a journey to Cuba with this year’s theme ‘Havana Sessions’ conjuring up visions of rum and cocktails at sunset. The evening kicks off with five star canapes and free-flow premium beverages until 9 pm followed by an after party to keep the action going. The entertainment is going to be awesome and the awards fabulous. Voting has started and it is easy to do. All you need to access is the website, register to vote and off you go. There are various categories of recognition from best hotel, best restaurant to recognizing charities and people who have made outstanding contributions to the community. There are a few names you might recognize. You can also save IDR 100,000 and book early bird tickets once you have completed the form on-line. The Yak awards are worth attending and timed nicely to fit in with the festive season this year.

Christmas Party Food (23 December) and Christmas Party (24 December)
The Cubby House has a few festive events lined up for children. A chance to learn how to make Christmas party food is the first activity. Cooking classes actually run every Saturday. The Cubby House Christmas party follows the next day with festive fun for the kids! It is a good way to enjoy a few hours before the big day. Guaranteed fun and laughter with lots of activities to keep the kids occupied.

Christmas Run Down (24, and 25 December)
What is your favourite Christmas movie? There are so many to choose from and they make great classics. Potato Head has organized some great Christmas movies. You can enjoy a screening of ‘Jack Frost’ on the lawn above Escalier on a specially erected bamboo projector screen. A special Christmas screening of ‘Scrooged’ is scheduled after Christmas lunch which has been organized and you can find out more at the website below. If you are a fan of Christmas movies then Potato Head is definitely the venue to enjoy a film and a drink with like-minded people.

Kids Christmas Get-Together (24 December)
It is always an exciting time for children and what better way to keep the little ones entertained for a few hours than a Christmas party just before the big day. Your child is invited to come along and mingle with other kids, have lots fun and eat delicious food in a buffet dinner. There will be a Christmas movie screening and plenty of activities to keep them occupied through Christmas Eve. The times are perfect too as you can drop your kids, enjoy dinner and pick them up later on.

Take Off (21 December)
This is definitely for late night owls who enjoy Techno Rave and an after party. I suspect this will attract a younger crowd. Top DJs will be spinning the sounds and Trashy hour runs from 11 to 1 am. If you find the hidden ruby you will win a round for free at the bar! Smirnoff is on offer at IDR 800,000! Do book ahead and add your name to the guest list to gain free entry before midnight.

Christmas Carols (21 December)
Christmas Carols are one of the most beautiful parts of Christmas and there have been several gatherings across town. Classic Carols and rocking songs are often reminders of bygone eras and how special Christmas really is for those who celebrate. These events bring together the community and it really is a time for reflection and giving. The Bali Community Choir will bring joy and magic with their beautiful voices and sing some of your all-time favourite Carols at the Wicket Parrot and guests can join in. The Wicked Parrot is a popular haunt with live music, great food, great service and a fabulous ambience. You might want to book a table to avoid disappointment.

Tropi Christmas Market (23 December)
Just in case you have some last minute shopping to do then this market is worth a visit. A creative community of boutique retailers, artisan foods, organic groceries and lots more will be gathered here. It is an ideal opportunity to pick up some last minute presents and enjoy some festive food. A percentage of the market sales will be donated to a chosen charity. Ulu Cliffhouse also has a festive menu over Christmas which is worth checking out. This is a beautiful place to be with stunning views.

I would like to wish readers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you to everyone who has shared their events with me and please keep these coming.
