Gala Robert Burns Night (20 January)
Burns Night is a Scottish tradition held in honour of Scotland’s most famous poet Robert Burns and is celebrated at the end of January every year. This event will follow the protocols and traditions that were first established at Robert Burn’s cottage on 21 July, 1801 which was the fifth anniversary of his death. The backdrop to the celebration will be in a tented garden and the dress code is kilts, tartans, formal dress, black ties or ‘red sea rig’ to accommodate Bali’s tropical climate, definitely not needed back in the northern hemisphere. Bag pipers will remind us of the sounds of Scotland and for those who have not had the pleasure of tasting Haggis then you are in for a real treat. The menu consists of samples of Scottish cuisine with specialities including cock-a-leekie, tatties and neeps and plenty of premium Australian wine, beer and single-malt Scotch whisky. Seating is limited so book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. The price includes all food, entertainment, an open bar and a bottle of Single Malt on each table. Funds raised will go to the Puspadi Foundation that provides wheelchairs, prosthetics and rehabilitation to disabled members of the community. There will also be a charity auction and lucky draw prizes. This is one of the first big charity events of 2018 and well worth attending!
