Mola-Mola are the world’s heaviest bony fish, reaching up to 1,000kg, and can have 300 million eggs. Their two long dorsal fins mean Mola-Mola can be 3.5m in height but, because they have rounded bodies, they are very narrow when seen from front/back.
Despite being so big, Mola-Mola are actually fairly difficult to find! Therefore, every day during the “season”, between one and three of AquaMarine’s custom-made dive boats (and Dive Guides!) head out to look for them. AquaMarine’s team have learned to be very secretive about where they find them!
Funnily enough, Mola-Mola have something in common with many of AquaMarine’s female guests: They love to sunbathe! Sunfish can spend up to half their day basking in the warmth of the sun’s rays so as to warm their bodies after deep dives – what clever creatures!

It’s ‘Game On’ @ Finns for World Cup Soccer
Break out the beer and bar snacks and be ready for a few long weeks of late night viewing because World Cup Soccer is back for 2018! Yep, it’s the return of that 4 yearly phenomenon where spouses of soccer fans across the globe find themselves solo for weeks on end while our partners, possessed by the world’s most watched sport, sit glued to the screen well into the wee hours…..
Well, if you can’t beat ‘em…. I say join them! No point sulking at home alone when we could be sitting in the comfort of The Sports Bar @ Finns Recreation Club, cheering for our countrymen. The 21st instalment of World Cup Soccer comes to us this time from Russia, making its first appearance in Europe since 2006 and marking a World Cup debut for Eastern Europe.
1 month, 64 games, 12 venues, 11 cities and 32 teams (including newcomers Panama and Iceland) make up this year’s competition and Finns aims to bring as many live games to us as possible – right here in Bali. Of course the obvious time difference between Russia and Indonesia means that, as usual, we’ll be watching many of these games once the sun dips down but that gives us all the time in the world to continue with our regular island activities whether they include work, surf, sun or strolling the beach.
This much anticipated international competition commences June 14th and continues until the final, scheduled for the 15th of July. Russia and Saudi literally start the ‘ball rolling’ (sorry, it had to be said!) with the curtain raiser on June 14th followed by an average of 3 matches per day as the competition progresses throughout June.
As some of the matches kick off late into the evening, Finns management is requesting patrons register any interest in viewing these games by contacting their new member services representative and full time concierge, David Setyawan. Should there be considerable enthusiasm for any particular late night draws, Finns will do their best to extend trading hours at The Sports Bar to accommodate these preferences. Late nights, lack of sleep and bleary eyes aside, we all get a little caught up in World Cup fever whether we are soccer supporters or not.
