We’d like to say a very big thank you to the members of our local community who supported the Rotary Club of Bali Canggu’s (RCBC) recent Quiz Night at the James Cook Sports Bar in Banjar Semer. We raised Rp.6 million to go towards our emergency fund. The next quiz night is booked for the 14th of October so start booking your teams of 4 now.
A big thank you to our sponsors Soul on the Beach, Soul and in a Bowl in Sanur, Nigel & Yani at Mason Adventures, Jackson Liliy’s, Sardine Restaurant, Mrs. Sippy, and of course Hatten Wines. We couldn’t have made it a success without your generous participation.
RCBC currently has only 11 members and growing, but we are a very active club and keen to add more members to our ranks. If you think you have what it takes and can spare time to help make our projects a success then contact us at getintouch@rotarycanggu.org
Our latest projects include: A joint project with the Rotary Club of Mataram on Lombok to supply 3 Eco Schools on Lombok with educational and art materials. 3 members of Rotary Canggu and 3 from Lombok were involved and the end result were happy smiling faces from the kids. A very heart-warming experience.
We are also working on a water project with Nanayi Foundation to provide fresh water to remote villages on Lombok. Prof Shane Snyder recently met us there to survey villages and take water samples back to his lab for analysis. One the results are in we will formulate a plan.
We have also been asked to coordinate malaria and water projects on Lombok through our prominent member Dr. Claus Bogh, who is head of the Gates Foundation team on Sumba and also chief scientist at The Sumba Foundation. We are still working out the logistics for this but should be good to start in the New Year.
Solemen has asked us to help rebuild a house that is collapsing for a poor family in North Bali. We are raising funds for this along with the support of one of our sister clubs in Australia.
And finally we are raising funds to convert a building into a library using a structure that has been kindly donated to the club by Tugu Hotel Lombok.
We are not able to run social projects as mentioned above and events like our Gala Dinner and Quiz Nights without your continued support and commitment to help. So thanks to everyone involved, whether you help raise funds or get hands on, on the ground…
Amazing what so few committed individuals can achieve together as a team.
So who are we? What is Rotary Canggu?
Well, we’re a small yet passionate group of like-minded people who offer service and support to local projects and good causes. And we are vibrant and zealous about serving the Canggu community and beyond. We are an officially registered organisation with the Bali government and have a bank account in the club name.
We are always looking to increase our membership, so if you would like to help and be part of a family style group of friends, why not join us for our bi-weekly meetings held on the first and third Tuesday of every month in the Tugu Hotel in Batu Bolong from 6pm.
Our meetings typically include an inspiring guest speaker and usually run from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. WhatsApp 08113998850 for more details.
As well as getting together with like-minded people, learning about club projects and listening to guest speakers present interesting topics, you are more than welcome to join RCBC members, along with visiting Rotarians and guests after the meeting finishes for drinks and snacks. We’d love for you to help us become part of the solution.
If you would love to help out but don’t have the time then consider making a donation, either one off or recurring to help fund our projects.
