Rotary Club Bali Ubud Sunset [RCBUS] has a new partner, Warung Babi Guling Pande Egi, located in Banjar Pande, Beng, Kec. Gianyar. The now famous warung is owned by Pande Putu Anggia A who started the eatery in 2016. It is named Pande Egi after Putu Anggia’s father who was the chef for the babi guling (roasted suckling pig) when the warung first opened.
Not only is the warung famous for its roasted suckling pig, but it is also renowned for its beautiful setting. The warung is in the middle of large rice fields where diners there can enjoy an unobstructed view of the glorious shade of green that permeate Bali. It is also noted for its affordable prices and welcoming staff.
All Rotary Clubs raise funds to support programs that help people where Rotarians live, and Rotarians live all over the world. They sponsor programs that promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, save mothers and children, support education, grow local economies, and support the environment. RCBUS collaborates with Rotary Clubs in Australia, Germany, and the United States to help fund its programs designed to help Indonesians.
Those projects include water tanks for Seraya Village and other locations in Bali and Lombok; Sewing for Living to teach local women to sew on machines and to crochet, enabling them to earn money; the Long Sam Program in East Kalimantan, an environmental endeavor whose mission is to rescue the endangered orangutans, to restore the rain forest and to strengthen the local economy; financial support for the John Fawcett Foundation’s wonderful work in preventing blindness among Balinese; financial support for our Rotaract Club and their projects – the list is long.
In order to raise money to support these programs, RCBUS creates fundraisers that will encourage like-minded people to participate and to donate to our projects. Our newest fundraiser is a raffle that is held at Warung Babi Guling Pande Egi on Saturdays at lunchtime. Each winner receives 25K rupiah which is enough to cover the cost of the “Special” on Pande Egi’s menu. Raffle tickets are sold by Rotarians for various prices. You can buy 1 raffle ticket for 3K rupiah, 2 raffle tickets for 5K rupiah or 5 raffle tickets for 10K rupiah.
RCBUS also places donation boxes in strategic areas. You can find them at Warung Babi Guling Pande Egi, Warung Legong in Keramas, Ganesha Bookstore on Jl. Raya in Ubud, and Toko Taman Jiwa at Jl. Sandat No. 9 in Ubud. All the money collected in these boxes goes directly to support local projects.
Please mark 10 September 2022 on your calendars. That’s the date of the 2nd annual RCBUS Bogies for Bali charity golf tournament held at one of the top golf courses in the world, Handara Golf & Resort Bali in Bedugul. Proceeds from this year’s charity golf tournament will support three RCBUS program: water projects in Bali and Lombok, Sewing for Living, and the Long Sam Environmental Program.
