Agus Kama Loedin Exhibition – now to 28 February
The Santrian Art gallery in Sanur is holding a special exhibition of metal sculptures by renowned artist Agus Kama Loedin. The displayed works come under the theme of ‘Jaga Raga, Bara Jiwa’ (Guarding the body and the fiery passion of the Soul), which is Loedin’s daily mantra as he seeks to balance the physical state of his body with the inward reflections of his soul. His sculptures interpret his thoughts and meditations on ephemeral life and the inevitable journey to the end.

Indigenous Film Night at Paradiso – 31 January
Standing On Sacred Ground: Profit and Loss is a film which focuses on indigenous communities around the world as they resist threats to their sacred places. In this film native people share ecological wisdom and spiritual reverence while battling government mega projects, consumer culture and resource extraction as well as competing religions and climate change. From Papua New Guinea’s rainforests to Canada’s tar sands this film exposes threats to native people’s health, livelihood and cultural survival. Fifty percent of ticket sales will support indigenous film making and cultural preservation education programs in Borneo.

Rewind and Replay Dewa 19 Concert – 31 January
The Westin Resort Nusa Dua and Marriott Bonvoy proudly present a reunion concert of rock band Dewa 19 featuring lead singer Once with an opening act by pop rock band RAN. Dewa 19 has been performing for 30 years and still rocks it. They will pay homage to their classics and also perform their latest hits. The concert plays at the Bali International Convention Centre in Nusa Dua and it’s bound to be an electric performance so get your tickets early.

Kintamani Chinese Festival – 8 February
Last year the Bangli Regency created a festival at Batur, Kintamani to celebrate and commemorate the triangle romance between the ancient Bali King Jayapangus, his Chinese wife Kang Ching Wi and the Goddest Dewi Danu. This year, the festival will repeat the Chinese theme with cultural exhibits and performances honouring the cultural ties between Bali and China, albeit on a more modern note. The famous Kintamani dogs will be part of the parade and the fun which is designed to attract Chinese tourists.

Art Classes and Workshops at Xich Lo – 1 and 9 February
Xich Lo, a Vietnamese restaurant in Pandang Linjong regularly arranges art classes and is now offering a Live Model (not nude) drawing sessions moderated by Wai Santy on 1 February and a Basic Watercolor Workshop for beginners with Yenti on 9 February. The fees for both classes include snacks and basic drawing materials (pencils and paper). Feel free to bring your own sketching materials. Enjoy a relaxing morning infused with art in the middle of the Canggu paddy fields.
