Thank you from the Rotary Club of Bali Canggu

We’d like to say a very big thank you to the 130 members of our local community who supported the Rotary Club of Bali Canggu’s (RCBC) first Gala Dinner on Saturday 30th March at the Tugu Hotel in Batu Bolong.

A big thank you to the I’m An Angel foundation for their amazing support. Also, to the following local businesses for their kind sponsorship. Teak Tree Farm, Bounty Cruises, MAH Collection, Tugu Hotel Lombok, Kuno Villas on Gili T, Kayu Café Gili T, Sempiak Lombok, Novotel Kuta Lombok, Senja Boat Rides Kuta Lombok, Milk Café, W Hotel Bali, Alilia Spa, Seasalt at Alilia, Nagicia Jewellery, Daphne Zepos, Ayung Resort, Aperitif Restaurant, Mason Adventures Helicopter Ride, Savage Photography, Villa Ylang Ylang, Ayana Resort, Alkemi Jewellery, Lisa Roet Jewellery, Villa Surgawi, Indohomes, Villa Deva, Kubu Villas Seminyak, Blu Bamboo Hotel, Scallywags Smugglers Hideaway on Gili A, Seri Resort, Full Moon Villa Ubud, Hacienda Villa, Karma Kandara, Brenda Reimers, Craft District, Bonito Jewellery, Dewina the Label, JH Kim Taekwondo, Kilo Restaurant, Hard Rock Hotel, Finns Club, Lily Jean, Padma Resort Legian, Gili Air Cooking School, Casa Koko Villa, Tropicola, Sardine Restaurant, Gili Bumblebee Montessori, El Kabron, SG, Yoga Barn, Kebun, Sasak Soul Surf, Mana Yoga, Mexican Resto Lombok, Plaga Wines, Bintang, Albens Cider, Hatten Wines, Bali Moon Cocktails, Vibe Liquors & Spirits, Taman & Puri Bhagawan, Live Essences Jamu. We couldn’t have made it a success without your generous participation.

The event was the brainchild of our Rotarians Klara Dallas, Tricia Kim, Aleksander Denic and assisted by Donna Greene. They were able to bring everything together in just two months, which was an incredible job, especially as the event raised almost IDR 200,000,000 for the club’s social projects.

RCBC has largely been focused on supporting victims of last year’s devastating earthquakes in Lombok, particularly the children. And we are grateful to have been working with David from Easy Tees who has printed backpacks provided by the club, which we filled with supplies and delivered to schools in Lombok together with Tricia Kim and Bonito Jewellery. RCBC’s commitment on this front was to match Bonito’s donation of 200 backpacks.

We would also like to thank Donna Greene for her campaign to provide basic school equipment such as books, crayons, pencils and erasers for the kids in Lombok. She successfully collected over AUD 1,000 worth of school supplies through private donors, including Aussie Rotarians David and Marilyn Barton (pictured) from RC Meville Perth WA. The delivery of these, the backpacks and other items was organized by fellow Rotarian Tricia Kim and Bonito Jewellery and an entourage of volunteers, who spent two days in Lombok to visit three schools and distribute backpacks to more than 300 kids. Thank you, Tricia, Bonito and everyone who was involved or kindly donated!

As well as our ongoing Lombok projects we’re also supporting farmers in the Jembrana region of West Bali, again through education.

Su-Re.co, which is an acronym for Sustainability-Resilience Company, together with the Meteorological Department of Indonesia are training cocoa and coffee farmers how to adapt to climate change and assist them to become organically certified through the Netherlands. With this official certification the farmers are able to ship internationally and make more money as a result.

We are not able to run social projects like this and events like our Gala Dinner without your continued support and commitment to help. Everything about the event was so thoughtful and amazing and so very Bali; from the Gala venue to handwritten name badges on leaves; from major sponsorship to visual effects and live entertainment from Luci Mae, (who is just 12-years old by the way,) singer KT and the beautiful and talented singer Eva Solara. Big thanks also to Mr. Jack Daniels who worked tirelessly the whole evening as MC and Auctioneer, helping us to     raise over IDR 100,000,000 of the final amount. We have been touched by your love and generosity.

So who are we? Who is Rotary Canggu?

Well, we’re a small yet passionate group of like-minded people who offer service and support to local projects and good causes. And we are vibrant and zealous about serving the Canggu community and beyond.

We’re looking to increase our numbers in the coming months, so if you would like to help and be part of a family style group of friends, why not join us for our bi-weekly meetings held on the first and third Tuesday of every month in the Tugu Hotel in Batu Bolong from 6pm.

Our meetings typically include an inspiring guest speaker and usually run from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.

As well as getting together with like-minded people, learning about club projects and listening to guest speakers present interesting topics, you are more than welcome to join RCBC members, along with visiting Rotarians and guests after the meeting finishes for drinks and snacks. We’d love for you to help us become part of the solution.

Once again thank you to everyone for making our first Gala Dinner such a great success and we look forward to many more!
